What Our Demolition Licence Means for Your Project

Our demolition licence is issued by Workplace Health and Safety Queensland under the Work Health and Safety Regulation 2011. It carries a condition: a demolition plan and a safe work method statement for the work must be available for inspection at every workplace where we demolish. On your job you can ask to see both.

We also hold an open builder licence from the Queensland Building and Construction Commission. Between the two, we can take on residential, commercial and industrial demolition with our own crews and machinery, as in our Ipswich Nature Centre project.

Asbestos Found Before or During Demolition

Many Brisbane buildings built before 1990 contain asbestos, and it has to come out before demolition starts. Because we hold a Class A licence, our own team removes both friable and bonded asbestos. The job does not stop while you find and book a separate removalist. Read more about our asbestos removal service.

Public liability policies commonly exclude asbestos, so ask any demolition contractor whether their cover includes it. Ours carries a separate $20 million asbestos liability limit.

How to Check Our Licences

  • Class A asbestos licence: Workplace Health and Safety Queensland publishes its Class A licence holder register on the page Which businesses are licensed to remove asbestos in Queensland? Look for Total Asbestos & Demolition Pty Ltd.
  • QBCC licence: search licence number 15325947 in the QBCC’s Find a local contractor search.
  • Certificates of currency: builders, principal contractors, developers and schools often need these before we start. Call us on (07) 3012 6702 or use our contact page and we will send current certificates for our liability and WorkCover policies.
